studios Valve and Nexon today announce Counter-Strike Online, a new
online version of the world's number one first-person multiplayer game
that will be tailored for Asia.
Counter-Strike, first released in 1999, is the world's number one first
person multiplayer game, generating over seven billion player minutes
per month and having sold over nine million retail copies worldwide.
Nexon is the Korean-based publisher and developer of blockbuster titles
such as MapleStory and KartRider. Valve is the creator of many popular
first person games and the Steam online platform for PC games.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nexon will develop and be the
exclusive publisher for Counter-Strike Online in South Korea, Japan,
China and Taiwan. Services in Korea and Japan will be carried out
respectively by its Korean and Japanese entities, NEXON Corporation
(CEO: Joonmo Kwon) and NEXON Japan Co., Ltd. (CEO: David K. Lee), and
in China and Taiwan through collaboration with local publishers.

Counter Strike is Forbidden in Brazil
"The popular games Counter Strike and Everquest are forbidden.
The games are already being collected in the State, according to a note
divulged in the site of the agency. According to decision of Justice,
the games "are harmful to the health of the consumers", infringing
articles 6, I, 8, 10 and 39, IV of the Code of Defense of the Consumer.
The site of the Procon affirms that, in the game, "dealers of Rio De
Janeiro kidnap and take for a mount three representatives of the
Organization of the United Nations", in that seems to be a reference to
the map cs_rio, developed by Brazilians and available in some sites for
download.
The recreation map a similar environment to a slum quarter in Rio De
Janeiro, with images of the Christ Redentor, but at no moment the
original version of the map includes people of the United Nations, only
the original characters of the game, that is an modification of the
Half-Life game.
Produced for the Valve, the game is available in the country since
2000. The Counter-Strike is one of the most played games in Lan Houses
and international competitions, as the World Cyber Games, where the
